What do kids do there for fun?

After school most of my male classmates do sport. Some of my friends play table-tennis after school in a club. They train very hard, so they have little time for learning.

My cousin is a 17-year-old boy, he goes to school and he has a side jobb, but this is an exception, not the rule. He has not got enough time for doing sports or going out . At weekends he is often at a party with his friends. At parties most of the kids smoke. I think that is stupid,  but they all want to be cool.

Boys who live in a city go to the cinema, go shopping or meet friends to play football or computer games. Many boys are in football or basketball clubs. At the moment drumming is in fashion among boys. Girls meet their (female) friends in cafes for long chats or shopping malls for window shopping. They sometimes join jazz dance or hiphop groups,  jogging is popular rather among girls, mainly because they want to stay or get slim.

In the country our free time looks a bit different. We have a long way to school, so we come home late, and there is less time for homework. We also like to go to sports clubs and many of us take piano, guitar or recorder lessons. When we want to meet a friend, our parents must take us there because of the great distances. That’s a big problem for the kids and their parents.
